Quality Control – Overview

Staff of the IRIS/IDA Data Collection Center constantly monitor the quality of data flowing from IDA stations through San Diego to the IRIS Data Management Center in Seattle to ensure the data are of the highest quality.  Problematic data are flagged and brought to the attention of the IDA engineering staff for correction.  The IDA DCC is also responsible for maintaining an accurate database of sensor response information which is currently distributed to the community in the form of a so-called dataless SEED volume.

Some of the technicques we employ to verify correct timing and judge waveform quality are listed in the menu at left.
